888 Casino, Poker Apps Cleared of Infringing Geotracking Patent

888 Holdings PLC’s online poker and casino apps don’t infringe a patent related to geolocation tracking technology, a Nevada federal judge said.

Judge Robert Jones in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada awarded 888 Holdings judgment after finding its apps don’t operate in a way required by Interactive Games LLC’s U.S. Patent No. 8,814,664.

The Tuesday order involved the last remaining patent in a suit Interactive Games and a CG Technology L.P. unit brought in 2016. Several other patents were previously found invalid, many for covering only an abstract idea.
