Walmart Works to Counter US Trucker Shortage: Supply Lines

The US trucking industry has long faced strains at both ends of the demographic spectrum: As veteran drivers retire, it’s tough to recruit young applicants to jobs where you can’t work from home and where staring at your phone for long stretches is hazardous.

Walmart is bucking the trend, according to reporting this month by Jaewon Kang of Bloomberg News. The US retail giant has grown its trucking workforce by 33% over the past three years by making the job more attractive to people who might otherwise eschew the field.
