The Trump administration granted the first exclusions from tariffs imposed on China for intellectual property violations, according to a Federal Register notice scheduled for Dec. 28 publication.
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative approved 984 requests for exclusions from tariffs covering $34 billion worth of Chinese goods. The 25 percent tariffs took effect on July 6, and the exclusions are retroactive to that date.
The exclusions are available for any product meeting the product description regardless of whether a specific importer filed the request.
