US equities snapped a two-day climb Tuesday as negotiations with other nations in President Donald Trump’s trade war made scant progress.

The S&P 500 Index slipped 0.2% in New York after ceding intraday gains, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 Index edged up by roughly the same margin. Bond yields retreated after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent downplayed the recent selloff, dismissing speculation that foreign nations were dumping their holdings.
