US Persuades 16 Countries to Change Vote on Cuba Embargo at UN

The United Nations General Assembly again called for the end of the US embargo on Cuba, but the number of countries backing the annual push shrank after Washington pushed other countries to vote against it.

While the motion passed Wednesday at the UN with the support of 165 countries, seven opposed it and 12 abstained. Last year 187 nations voted in favor, two opposed and one abstained.
