U.S. imposes new sanctions on the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO) and Astan Quds Razavi (AQR), two purportedly charitable organizations that the Treasury Department says control large swaths of Iran’s economy.
- The organizations control assets taken from political dissidents and religious minorities for the benefit of Supreme Leader
Ali Khamenei and senior government officials, according to a statement from Treasury - U.S. also targets EIKO leader Mohammad Mokhber and subsidiaries, as well as entities that have assisted AQR and its leader
