U.S. ITC Plans Cellular-Systems Probe After Ericsson Complaint

The U.S. International Trade Commission voted to start an investigation into cellular communications infrastructure systems following a complaint received by Ericsson.

• Ericsson’s complaint, received Jan. 15, alleges violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act regarding the import and sale of some systems, components and products that infringe patents, the ITC says in an emailed statement Tues.
• The ITC says Samsung is a respondent in the investigation; Ericsson asks the ITC to issue a limited-exclusion order as well as cease-and-desist orders
