Donald Trump’s visit to Southeast Asia is offering a glimmer of hope for the region, whose stocks have been among the worst-performing in the emerging markets complex.

The US president unveiled several trade deals while attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit, raising expectations for deeper US engagement with the bloc. The conference is also rekindling broader interest in Southeast Asia, where bargain valuations, supply chains shifting away from China, and signs of political stabilization are making the region increasingly investable.
