Trump Repeats Claim That US Tariffs Ended India-Pakistan Clash

US President Donald Trump reiterated that he prevented a potential nuclear war between India and Pakistan during their conflict last year by threatening tariffs and pressuring both nations to end their clash.

“It would have been a nuclear war, in my opinion,” Trump said in an interview with Fox Business on Tuesday. “Without tariffs, that wouldn’t happen.”

The nuclear-armed neighbors fought their worst conflict in decades last year over the course of a four-day clash in which both sides hit military and civilian targets with fighters, drones and artillery.
