The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) properly classified beef jerky imported from New Zealand and Brazil as “cured” beef under subheading 1602.50.09 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled March 20 (Link Snacks Inc. v. U.S.).
Plaintiff Link Snacks Inc., a company that does business as Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, is domestic manufacturer and distributor of meat snacks, including beef jerky, turkey jerky, and meat and cheese packs.
