The Senate Judiciary Committee approved legislation Thursday to televise Supreme Court proceedings, a step long resisted by the high court’s justices but sought by open government advocates.
The panel voted to advance the measure as public confidence in the court is sagging amid accusations of partisanship and an unpopular 2022 ruling reversing a long-standing precedent on abortion rights.
