Supreme Court Set to Hear Debate on Trump Tariffs: Supply Lines

President Donald Trump’s go-to policy weapon for leverage in trade talks and foreign affairs will be the focus of oral arguments Wednesday before the US Supreme Court.

At issue is whether Trump exceeded his constitutional authority with many of his so-called reciprocal tariffs imposed on goods from around the world. Citing national-security emergences, the president says he needs that power to make the US economy great again. His legal opponents say he’s overreaching, arguing that only Congress has the authority to tax Americans and regulate international commerce.
