Southwire Praises Copper Tariffs It Says Will Help US Companies

One of the largest makers of copper wire and cable in the US is applauding the Trump administration for adding import tariffs on aluminum and copper derivative products, saying the move will help American manufacturers.

Without the duties, domestic manufacturers would be “significantly disadvantaged” to foreign suppliers, Southwire Co. Chief Executive Officer Rich Stinson said on the company’s website.
