Shipping activity in the Persian Gulf is increasingly disrupted as commercial vessels steer clear of Tehran’s expanded control zone in the Strait of Hormuz.

At least 13 ships have diverted from the area after reports that Iran extended its maritime reach from south of Mount Mobarak to Fujairah, and from west of Qeshm Island to Umm al-Quwain.
