Output at US Manufacturers Increases in Final Months of 2025 (3)

Production at US factories unexpectedly increased in December and the prior month was revised higher, suggesting manufacturers gained some footing at the end of the year.

Manufacturing output, which accounts for three-fourths of total industrial production, rose 0.2% after a 0.3% November increase, Federal Reserve data showed Friday. The median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of economists called for a 0.1% decline.

Overall industrial production, which includes factories, mines and utilities, increased 0.4% for a second month. Mining and energy extraction declined, while output at utilities advanced.
