Mosaic Falls as Fertilizer Plant Issues Add to Tariff Headwinds

Shares of fertilizer company Mosaic Co. dropped as operational issues at phosphate plants hit production, adding pressure to a segment already suffering from US tariffs.

The Tampa-based company said Friday that mechanical issues and utility interruptions led to a “meaningful decline” in the production of phosphate, a key crop fertilizer. Preliminary third-quarter production of 1.7 million tons was below management expectations, while sales volumes also fell short of estimates.
