Moen Drops Legal Challenge to Showerhead Import Tariffs

Moen Inc. will be allowed to drop its lawsuit challenging the tariff classification of various models of showerheads imported from China, after the Trump administration’s policies radically altered the trade landscape, a federal court ruled July 26.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection classified the showerheads as “household articles and hygienic or toilet articles, of plastics,” subject to 3.4% import duties. Moen argued they should be classified as “mechanical appliances” used “for projecting, dispersing or spraying liquids or powders,” which would face duties of only 1.8%, or in the alternative as parts for such mechanical appliances, which could enter the U.S. ...
