Malaysia Exports Unexpectedly Narrow Drop Amid Growing Risks (1)

Malaysia’s exports declined by a less-than-expected 0.7% in May from a year earlier, as shipments to major trading partners increased amid global economic uncertainties.

That compares with the median estimate of a 12% fall in a Bloomberg survey, following the previous month’s plunge of 17.6%, Ministry of International Trade and Industry said in an emailed statement.

Trade with the US expanded 14.9% on robust exports of electrical and electronic products including semiconductors, while China saw shipments growing 1.5%, reversing five consecutive months of decline.
