Lutnick Makes Surprise Trip to India After US Tariff Setback

US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick met his Indian counterpart in an unscheduled visit to New Delhi Thursday, days after the US Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s sweeping global tariffs.

India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal shared a photo after meeting Lutnick and US Ambassador Sergio Gor, saying they had “very fruitful discussions to expand our trade and economic partnership.”

A US Embassy spokesman in New Delhi confirmed Lutnick was in the capital for a “brief stop” but declined to comment further.
