Lowered Duties on Korean Steel Pipe Upheld By Trade Court

Lowered U.S. duties on certain imports of steel pipes and tubes from South Korea were upheld Thursday by the U.S. Court of International Trade, after the Commerce Department reluctantly concluded that there wasn’t a “particular market situation” in the Asian nation.

The U.S. imposes antidumping duties on Korean heavy-walled rectangular welded carbon steel pipes and tubes, used in the construction industry and in the manufacture of truck beds, trailers, and agricultural implements. The U.S. imported over $46.2 million worth of subject pipes and tubes from South Korea in 2015, according to a U.S. International Trade Commission report.
