Korea, US Still ‘Sharply’ Split Over Cash in $350 Billion Pledge

South Korea and the US remain “sharply” divided over the cash portion of a $350 billion investment pledge, South Korea’s Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan said Friday, hinting that a deal may not be reached in time for a summit meeting.

“From our perspective, we believe the amount should be smaller, while the US maintains that it needs to be larger,” Kim said, referring to the cash element. Kim was speaking after his return early Friday morning from follow-up tariff talks with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick in Washington, his second trip to DC in less than a week. ...
