Israel’s Gaza Plan Hits Impasse With Trump’s Attention Elsewhere

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under pressure both at home and abroad to break a stalemate in the war with Hamas, and is set to convene his security cabinet Thursday after a month of renewed aggression failed to advance the conflict.

Israeli troops and tanks have occupied about a third of Gaza since the end of a two-month ceasefire in mid-March and blocked humanitarian aid to the 2-million plus population, though Iran-backed Hamas remains broadly in charge and in possession of 59 hostages, of which 24 are thought to be alive.
