Greer ‘Disappointed’ in EU Treatment of US Tech After Trade Deal

US President Donald Trump’s top trade negotiator said he’s concerned by the European Union’s follow-through on pledges to regulate American tech giants fairly, just days after Elon Musk’s X social network was slapped with a €120 million ($140 million) fine for violating the EU’s controversial content-moderation law.

Speaking Wednesday at an Atlantic Council event in Washington, USTR Jamieson Greer said that the trade agreement reached between the US and EU in late July contains “language about no discrimination against US digital actors and making sure that they have fair treatment.”
