Global merchandise trade is expected to grow as fast or faster in 2026 than it did last year, fueled partly by China’s expansion in markets aligned with the Global South, according to a DP World survey released Tuesday.
The poll of some 3,500 executives in November found that 54% said they see goods trade accelerating from last year, while 40% said they anticipate activity will increase similar to the pace in 2025. According to UNCTAD figures, goods and services trade last year rose to a record of more than $35 trillion.
