Furniture Importers Pay $5.2 Million to Settle Duty Evasion Suit

Blue Furniture Solutions LLC, its successor XMillenium LLC, and two of the companies’ former executives agreed to pay more than $5.2 million to resolve allegations they defrauded the U.S. by evading duties and fees on furniture imports from China, the Justice Department said.

In 2015, University Loft Co. brought a False Claims Act whistleblower suit against the companies, and former chief executive and chief financial officers Yingqing Zeng and Alex Cheng respectively, according to a DOJ press release. It alleged they were importing wooden bedroom furniture into the U.S. without paying millions in antidumping duties and customs fees.
