French Farm Union Calls for Sept. 26 Protest Over Mercosur Deal

The head of France’s biggest farmers’ union called for a nationwide show of solidarity against international agreements it says are undermining the country’s food sovereignty.

“We’ve decided to organize a great day of action on Sept. 26, in all regions, against the Mercosur, levies imposed by Donald Trump, and the flow of international imports that don’t respect our standards, such as Ukrainian eggs,” Arnaud Rousseau, the president of FNSEA, said in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche on Sunday.
