EU Temporarily Eliminates $750 Million In Tariff Duties on Ukrainian Imports

The European Union gave final approval to a temporary elimination of approximately $750 million worth of tariff duties on Ukrainian imports and broadened the list of Russians banned from the EU in response to the latest unrest in eastern Ukraine.

Although EU member states are divided on taking new economic sanctions, including trade measures against Russia, the EU Council of Ministers April 14 in Luxembourg was united in extending the tariff cuts. The cuts were first proposed in early March after Russia invaded and subsequently annexed Crimea 45 DER A-5, 3/7/14.
