EU Opens Anti-Dumping Probe Into Chinese Exports of Vanillin (1)

The European Union opened an anti-dumping probe into Chinese exports of vanillin, the compound responsible for the flavor and aroma of vanilla, as the bloc keeps up the pressure on Beijing’s trade practices.

Belgium-based Syensqo SA, the EU’s largest vanillin producer, filed a complaint last month, alleging that China’s pricing practices violated the bloc’s trading rules. The probe was announced in the EU’s Official Journal on Friday.

Syensqo shared jumped as much as 2.3% before paring gains.
