Diageo Names Lewis CEO as British Distiller Seeks Revamp (3)

Diageo Plcnamed Dave Lewis, known for his turnaround of UK grocer Tesco Plc, its new chief executive officer in a surprise move as the maker of Johnnie Walker seeks its own reboot after a period of turmoil.

Lewis will take up the role on Jan. 1, Diageo said Monday. The announcement, days after the British distiller lowered its sales and profit forecast, comes amid months of upheaval at Diageo, which has been run by Nik Jhangiani on an interim basis since former CEO Debra Crew stepped down in July.
