Customs Brokers Await Clarity on New Trump Tariff: Supply Lines

President Donald Trump’s latest tariff threat — a 25% levy on goods from all countries doing business with Iran — rekindled sensations American importers felt through much of 2025: uncertainty, confusion and paralysis.

In interviews on Tuesday, trade lawyers and customs experts told Bloomberg that they’re in a wait-and-see mode after his post on Truth Social late Monday.

Mollie Sitkowski, a trade lawyer at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath in Chicago, said that for the levies to take effect, an official pronouncement like an executive order would need to be published citing some authority.
