China Formalizes Rare Earth Curbs Suspension After Trade Truce

China suspended its sweeping controls on its exports of rare earths and other critical materials until November 2026 as part of its trade truce with the US.

Beijing paused export controls on products containing even traces of certain rare earths that were unveiled in early October, according to a joint statement from the Ministry of Commerce and the customs agency. The suspension took effect Friday and will run through Nov. 10, 2026.
