Census Bureau Rule Will Require Mandatory AES Filing for Some Exports

The Commerce Department’s Census Bureau amended its regulations to require mandatory filing of export information through the Automated Export System (AES) or through AESDirect for all shipments of used self-propelled vehicles and temporary exports.

The final rule takes effect Jan. 8, 2014, except for certain information collection requirements that have not yet been approved by the Office of Management and Budget, according to a Federal Register notice scheduled for publication March 14.
