U.S. Customs and Border Protection is planning to transition to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), a new import and export processing system to replace legacy trade systems, in three years, Brenda Smith, acting executive director of the ACE business office, CBP international trade office, said Dec. 4.
“We believe using an agile approach, we can complete the core functionality of ACE in one system in approximately three years,” Smith told a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of Customs and Border Protection (COAC).
