Carney Visits China Amid Frayed Ties With Trump: Supply Lines

Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney is meeting with Chinese leaders in Beijing this week to discuss tariffs, energy and global security just as US President Donald Trump sounds unimpressed with the trade deal he brokered with the US’s northern neighbor six years ago.

Carney talked with Premier Li Qiang on Thursday and is expected to exchange views with President Xi Jinping on Friday. Carney will also be speaking with Canadian and Chinese businesses, according to reporting from Bloomberg’s Brian Platt and Lucille Liu.
