Carney Doesn’t Plan to Talk Trade With Trump at FIFA Event

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney isn’t planning to discuss trade with US President Donald Trump when they meet for the FIFA 2026 World Cup event on Friday, even though talks have been stalled for more than a month.

Carney will hold a brief meeting with Trump during the event, his office confirmed. He will also meet with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. But the visit will be focused on the soccer competition, not on tariffs, according to Dominic LeBlanc, the Canadian minister in charge of US trade.
