Canada Proposes Regulations to Implement eManifest Program, Align Effort with U.S.

The Canadian government Feb. 15 published draft regulations to implement the first phase of its eManifest program, which would require electronic manifests for goods shipments by rail and truck across the U.S.-Canada border and align Canadian requirements with those in the U.S.

The eManifest program would both facilitate the cross-border movement of goods and improve border security, reducing both costs and delays for shippers by minimizing the red tape associated with clearance processes for legitimate shipments, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said in a regulatory impact analysis published with the draft regulations in the Feb. 15 Canada Gazette, Part ...
