Canada Lags in Trade Talks, Greer Says as USMCA Review Nears (1)

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said trade talks with Canada have fallen behind those with Mexico as the administration prepares for this year’s review of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement trade deal.

“We’re having talks separately with Canada, but we we’ve moved along with Mexico. Canada is behind on this with Mexico,” Greer said Wednesday on Fox Business.

The existing USMCA pact, which runs to 2036, leaves room for a range of negotiating formats and includes a clause that allows any country to exit with six months’ notice. The three nations could also decide to extend it, but if they don’t, they ...
