Brazil Agrees to Forgo WTO Special Treatment

Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro agreed to give up some benefits in World Trade Organization negotiations.

Bolsonaro’s pledge to give up special and differential WTO treatment came during his March 19 visit with President Donald Trump at the White House.

The development provides support for the Trump administration’s effort to limit the ability of large economies like China and India to obtain more lenient trade terms meant for poor countries.
