Boeing 737 Max Output Stays Capped for Now, Trump DOT Pick Says

President Donald Trump’s pick for Transportation secretary said a production cap of Boeing Co.’s 737 Max will remain until he’s convinced of sufficient progress in quality control, suggesting the new administration is maintaining a cautious view on the planemaker.

The cap “will be lifted when I, in consultation with the career safety experts at FAA and the Administrator, have confidence that a production increase will not reduce the quality of the aircraft being produced,” Sean Duffy said in recently-released written responses to questions from members of the Senate Commerce Committee.
