BMW CEO Presses EU to Ratify US Deal as Tariff Costs Ramp Up

BMW AG is pressing the European Union to formally adopt a trade deal with the US that would give the German carmaker respite from ongoing tariff pressure.

“The United States already implemented their part of the deal, retroactively, as of August 1. The EU has not done so,” Chief Executive Officer Oliver Zipse told reporters in Brussels on Tuesday.

Tariffs imposed by the US and EU have weighed on the luxury-car maker’s earnings, with German peers Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Porsche AG also getting hit. The US is BMW’s second-biggest overseas market, and the manufacturer is forced to pay duties ...
