Bessent Says Good Trade Offers Made, Sees Deal Soon as This Week

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that some “very good” offers have been made to the US in negotiations with trading partners, and reiterated the administration’s guidance that a deal could be announced as soon as this week.

“There are 18 very important trading relationships. We are currently negotiating with 17 of those trading partners,” with China being the exception, Bessent said in answering questions at a House Appropriations Committee hearing Tuesday. “I expect that we can see a substantial reduction in the tariffs that we are being charged — as well as non-tariff barriers.”
