Anti-Trump Liquor Boycotts Are Squeezing US Spirits Exports

Exports of US spirits are slumping as President Donald Trump’s trade war ripples through global liquor markets and Canadian retailers remain steadfast in keeping American booze off their shelves.

In the second quarter, the export of US liquors including bourbon fell 9% from a year earlier, the Distilled Spirits Council of the US said in a report released Monday. Shipments to Canada, which was the only major US trading partner to enact retaliatory tariffs, posted the steepest decline, plunging 85% to less than $10 million in the period.
