Andersons Buys Marathon Ethanol Stake for $425 Million (2)

Andersons Inc. has acquired the remaining stake in its ethanol joint venture with Marathon Petroleum Corp. for $425 million, and the crop trader is still looking to expand.

The deal with Marathon includes four ethanol plants and doubles the Andersons investment in biofuels, according to a statement. The companies initially formed a joint venture in 2019.

Andersons’ deal comes as President Donald Trump’s administration has boosted quotas for blending renewable fuels into the US energy supply.
