AMD Taps Malaysia For Advanced Chip Packaging, PM Says

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. is exploring making Malaysia a regional hub for its advanced packaging and design operations — a victory for the Southeast Asian nation amid global semiconductor shifts under US President Donald Trump’s tariff threats.

AMD intends to expand its presence in Penang and Cyberjaya, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said in a speech after meeting the chipmaker’s Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su on Tuesday. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed his comments.
