Imports of two models of air fryers from China were wrongly subject to additional 25% duties, because they were misclassified by customs officials, Tristar Products Inc. argues in a lawsuit at a federal trade court.
The fryers are tabletop appliances utilizing hot air circulated at a high speed to cook food, according to Tristar’s complaint filed Wednesday at the U.S. Court of International Trade. They contain a heating element, a cooking chamber, a motor, and a fan, and one model also contains a rotisserie spit, a pizza rack, a baking pan, a drip tray, and a crisper tray.
