Air Force One Electrical Issue Delays Trump’s Davos Arrival (1)

Jan. 21, 2026, 8:10 AM UTC

President Donald Trump’s trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos had a rough start, after the government plane he was flying on was forced to return to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland shortly after departure because of a mechanical issue.

While Trump was eventually able to board a replacement plane and take off again, the complication ultimately delayed his travel to the forum in Switzerland by more than two hours.

It wasn’t immediately clear what effect the delay would have on Trump’s plans in Davos, where he’s set to address the World Economic Forum Wednesday afternoon.
