ADM, Cargill, Tate & Lyle Lose Bid for Thai Food Additive Duties

Archer Daniels Midland Co., Cargill Inc., and Tate & Lyle Americas LLC lost their legal quest for countervailing duties on imports of citric acid and certain citrate salts from Thailand.

Citric acid and citrate salts are used as an additive in a number of foods and beverages, as well as in some pharmaceuticals and cleaning agents. The U.S. imported about $73.2 million worth of these additives from Thailand in 2017, according to the Commerce Department.
