Zurich Units Sue Hilcorp Over Oil and Gas Production Lawsuits

Units of Zurich Insurance Group AG are suing Hilcorp Energy Co. over its settlement costs in litigation alleging the firm’s oil and gas production activities violated Louisiana coastal zone management laws.

Insurance coverage for the settlements is barred or limited by various provisions in the general liability and umbrella policies issued to the oil and gas producer, the insurers said in a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
