Zurich Insurance Beats Lloyd’s in LaGuardia Injury Payment Row

Zurich Insurance Group AG units won a dispute against Lloyd’s of London over paying for a worker’s injury at LaGuardia Airport after a federal appeals court held that New York state law prohibits Lloyd’s from seeking to recoup its losses from a policyholder.

“We agree with the district court that New York’s anti-subrogation rule prevents Lloyd’s from bringing the claim,” the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said in a summary order Tuesday.
