Yahoo Sues Chubb Unit Over Potential EU Data Privacy Fines

Yahoo Inc. is suing a Chubb Ltd. unit seeking insurance coverage over potential regulatory fines for violating the EU’s data privacy law.

An insurance policy issued to Yahoo’s former parent company, Verizon Communications Inc., should cover any fines or amounts awarded against it in proceedings before the Irish Data Privacy Commission, Yahoo said in a complaint filed Tuesday in the Delaware Superior Court.
